Candle / Diffuser Care
There are many who believe a candle is just a candle you light it and it makes the room smell nice. As true and simple as that is, there are also other techniques you can utilize to extend the life of the candles and other products I make.
Candles:
I have a variety of different candle tops. Some are basic while others are beautiful and decorative. When you choose to burn your candle the general rule is don't light it unless you have at least 2-3 hrs to ensure the melted was reaches the edge of the jar. This helps prevent tunneling. Before relighting your candle be sure to trim your wick. If your have purchased a candle that has botanicals or crystals, after the first burn you can pull the orange slices or any larger pieces out. Crystals can be pulled out after the first burn or at the end. Wood wicks are sturdy and it won't affect the candle. If you have a cotton wick definitely trip the black part off the till about 1/4" and make sure they are straight up before lighting.
The reason we trim our wicks it to prevent an unsafe dancing sparking flame. Trimming creates a low controlled flame so your candles last as long as possible. Options to trim your wicks include using your finger, a nail clipper, or a wick trimmer.
Diffusers:
One of my best sellers are my car diffusers/fresheners. I get a lot of questions about how to use them and usually have a tutorial ready but just in case....
Step 1: Take off the wooden lid.
Step 2: Pull out the plastic cork.
Step 3: Tip the diffuser so the oil absorbs into the wooden cap but do not spill (The liquid can damage surfaces).
Step 4: Hang in your car or place it behind your monitor on your desk for a little boost of scent at work.
Note: For local customers, I am open to recycling candle jars. I can also refill your favorite diffusers. Contact me directly via social media or maziscentedcandles@gmail.com
